Question about the paddles. We didn't really use them much in high school with the exception of the Jenks Christmas practices. I got some really awesome Speedo ones the conform to my hand in late January, and I have been incorporating them in to my sets, but I'm not exactly sure what I need to be focusing on as to the purpose of the paddles. Is it to lengthen my stroke? Perfect stroke technique? I'm up to about 3500 a practice, so this workout above will be really good to try out this Friday. I had a big time lack of energy tonight, so this comes at a good time for me as far as motivation in concerned!
ReplyDeleteThe only part I do not like is the butterfly!
ReplyDelete:)
Pat - I have found paddles to really help with stroke technique. Longer strokes, you can "feel" the water better. It will really emphasise what you are doing wrong!
ReplyDeleteIt does add some "strength training" also.
I guess another benefit is the variety it adds to your training routine. I get bored pretty easily.... :-)
Hey Debi! I too am not fond of butterfly!! That is why we use fins - ALOT when training fly. It helps sooooo much!
ReplyDeleteKeep on swimmin!
Love you
